Manchester United could use an infusion of youth and talent, and that is exactly what they would get with James Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, 20, is a hot commodity. This talented youngster put his potential on vivid display with F.C. Porto last season. He made just 20 appearances, but in that limited action he was able to net 13 goals.

You'd better believe this caught the attention of Manchester United. Actually, their attention may have already been grabbed.

The Daily Mail reports that Rodriguez has been firmly on the Red Devils' radar for a year, and that they are getting closer to landing him.

This is a shrewd move for the club. The Red Devils need a little shake up. They need some youthful exuberance and energy. They also need to let some of their current lineup mainstays know that they are not dependent upon them (looking at you Nani).'s Tom Marshall-Bailey has reported that Nani is looking to leave Man U. He offered up this quote from the talented winger:

My agent is waiting on news about United. We have presented a counter-offer and now we are waiting on an offer from the club.

It certainly looks to me like Nani is intent on playing the negotiations game. With Rodriguez in the mix, Man U doesn't have to get involved in that game. They can let Nani decide if he wants to be a part of the team. If he does, he is going to have to work his tail off to stay on the pitch.

Even if Nani leaves, the Red Devils already have Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young to man most of the minutes while Rodriguez refines his skills. The rewards when those skills are refined will be huge.

Rodriguez's ceiling is shockingly high. He is a natural goal scorer and an exciting talent.

This would be an excellent pickup for the Devils.
