How Will Playoff System Affect Notre Dame?

Adam Kramer@kegsneggsNational College Football Lead WriterJune 25, 2012

There’s a playoff coming to college football and as the playoff format slowly comes to fruition, there is still plenty of work to be done. One of the big topics up for debate is how to decide which teams get invited to the playoff. Conference champions only has been bandied about, and that would not bode well for Notre Dame. However, given the fact that there are many options on the table, the real question here is how the playoff will impact the Fighting Irish.

A lot of fans (not of the Irish) are rooting for Notre Dame to be left out in the cold and forced to join a conference. Not likely. Jack Swarbrick was in the room and stood amongst the conference commissioners as the consensus to move to a playoff was decided. Expect the Irish to be as relevant as ever where a playoff is concerned; all they have to do is win.
