UFC 147 Franklin vs. Silva Results: Live Reaction and Play-by-Play

Rich Franklin vs Wanderlei Silva

Round 1: Wanderlei lands the first significant strike as he pops Rich in the face with a right hand. Inside leg kick from Franklin. Rich sends a right hand down the pipe. Rich catches a high kick and punches Wand in the face. Rich clips wand with a right hand. Rich again with a left hand. And a right. Nice body kick from Franklin. The exchange punches against the fence. Win lands a head kick. Rich responds with a stiff jab. Wand again with a high kick. They exchange again. Franklin with a head kick and Wand responds with a hook. 10-9 Rich Franklin

Round 2: Sorry browser problems. Rich is finding a home for his combinations against the fence. He's opened a cut up on Wanderlei Silva's nose and has been peppering out the jab. Wanderlei is throwing looping punches and is having trouble with Franklin's straight punches. Wand clips Rich with a hook. Wanderlei catches Franklin with punches and he's swarming. He's got the Thai Plumb and throwing knees to the head. He drops Franklin! Franklin is surviving but Wand is throwing a ton of punches from the top. Wow! Round 3: Rich digs in with a hook to the body. Rich is pushing the pace and stalking with punches down the pipe. Nice body kick from Franklin. Wanderlei hasn't throwing yet this round. He's on the defensive. Franklin throws a head kick but it doesn't connect. Wanderlei is being timid in this round. It's very surprising since it seemed like he had Rich finished in the second. Rich pops out a jab and then drags Wand to the ground. He's working from a high half guard and is landing elbows from the top. It is Silva who is now hoping to survive. 10-9 Rich Franklin

Round 4: Wanderlei lands a right hand as Franklin comes in. Did the power quickly go out in the arena? Franklin is using a stick and move strategy and picking Wand apart from the outside. Rich steps in for a hook. Franklin is just hitting Wanderlei with jabs and hooks. It's a very good fight for Franklin, who isn't taking much damage. Wanderlei looks to be frustrated as he lands a kick directly between the legs. That wasn't accidental. Those things are going to have to descend all over again. Rich decides to keep fighting, and he's back to landing punches from the outside. Wanderlei pushes forward to close the round but doesn't land anything.10-9 Rich Franklin

Round 5: Franklin is trying to keep fighting on the left side. Franklin is countered by a left hook but Wand has nothing left and can't follow up. Franklin is just pawing out that stiff jab over and over again. He staggers Wanderlei a bit with hooks. Wanderlei finally comes alive with less than a minute left and lands several hooks and calls for Franklin to fight. Dude, he's been fighting. It's why you're face is a mess. They swing wildly to close the fight and Rich drops Wanderlei as the horn sounds. That was a perfect fight for Franklin outside of that worrisome two minutes in the second. 10-9 Rich Franklin

Official Result: Rich Franklin defeats Wanderlei Silva by Unanimous Decision. All three judges scored the fight 49-46.

Cezar Ferreira vs. Sergio Moraes

Round 1: Ferreira lands a capoeira kick and then swarms with punches. Nice kick to the body form Moraes and he follows up with wild punches. There's not much going on as Ferreira doesn't want to overly commit. Moraes has tagged Cezar several times. Front kick to the groin and time is stopped. Ferreira closes the distance and Moraes throws a bunch of hooks in response. Eh. 10-9 Cezar Ferreira

Round 2: They clinch immediately and Moraes tries to pull guard. They exchange punches and Moraes is dropped ith a punch. Ferreira swarms and then back away as Moraes has regained his senses. Ferreira with a capoiera kick that connects. Moraes is hurt! Ferreira is going for the kick but Moraes recovers again. Ferreira presses the action and is looking for a finish. He's throwing jumping knees and throwing punches in bunches. Sergio looks to have fully recovered and runs forward with punches that don't land. Ferreira gets tagged and he's stunned. Moraes is pushing forward and trying to finish the fight. Ferreira recovers and the round ends. 10-9 Cezar Ferreira

Round 3: The round opens and Ferreira drops Moraes again. He's not following to the ground. Moraes lands a front kick to the sternum. Moraes comes forward and can't connect. Moraes lands punches and he's going full Diaz with his hands in the air. Just as Joe Rogan is explaining that Moraes is winning the round he's dropped with a straight right. This was super kinda boring. I'm not sure guys. Both guys think they won the fight.

Official Result: Cezar Ferreira defeats Sergio Moraes by Unanimous Decision. The scores were 29-28, 30-27, 30-27.

Rony Jason vs Godofredo Pepey

Round 1: Pepey comes forward and Jason catches him with a right hand. Pepey clinches up and they fight for under hooks. They break and both fighters are throwing punches wildly. Pepey pulls guard and rolls for a kimura on the right arm. Jason defends by clasping his hands together. This is a deep kimura and Pepey abandons it. Punches to the body for Jason. Pepey is warned again for punches to the back of the head. He then stands the fighters up. Nice leg kick for Jason. Jason lands a flying knee and Pepey pulls guard. Elbows from the bottom from Pepey. Nice first round. 10-9 Rony Jason 

Round 2: Inside leg kick from Pepey. Kick to the body from Pepey is caught and Jason responds with punches. Left hand connects for Jason. Jason comes in and misses on a wild punch. Pepey pulls guard again and the crowd boos. Jason isn't doing much from the top. Last warning for punches to the back of the head. Jason stands and kicks the legs a couple times before Pepey stands up. Jason lands a big right hand as Pepey comes forward. A lead left hook lands for Jason as does a body kick. Pepey drops for a spinning back elbow and Jason comes over the top with a right. And another right hand. Pepey misses a spinning backfist. 10-9 Rony Jason

Round 3: Jason lands a right hand to the chin. Jason lands another straight right. Pepey against with the spinning backfist. He's telegraphing them at this point. Jason is countering nicely as Pepey swings wildly. Pepey clips Jason low with a kick to the groin. Jason with a left hand that catches Pepey. He tries following up with a superman punch but Pepey clinches and tries to pull guard again. Jason allows him to get back to his feet and against Jason is kicked to the groin. Jason is down and that one looked bad. Jason is back up and looks to be moving well. Pepey again throws an inside leg kick. The horn sounds and there is some problems between the two fighters. 10-9 Rony Jason

Official Result: Rony Jason defeats Godofredo Pepey by Unanimous Decision. All three judges scored the fight 29-28.

Mike Russow vs Fabricio Werdum

Round 1: Werdum looks to clinch up and land several knees to the head but Russow escapes and doesn't take any damage. Werdum presses forward and lands several punches to the head. Russow clinches up and presses Werdum against the fence. Fabricio lands knees to the body. Nice low kick from Werdum. Uppercut from Russow. Werdum looks to have settled in and Russow gets dropped by an uppercut. Werdum pours it on and Herb Dean stops the fight. Great performance from Fabricio. Mike Russow looks to be walking around just fine. Just momentarily stunned. 

Official Result: Fabricio Werdum defeats Mike Russow by TKO. The stoppage came at 2:28 in the first round. 

Yuri Alcantara vs Hacran Dias

Round 1: Nice spring knee from Alcantara and Dias drives forward looking for a single leg takedown. Yuri defends it but Dias is able to drag him to the mat. Alcantara has a signal butterfly hook in preventing a guard pass. Dias has one arm trapped and then passes to mount. He looks to set up an arm triangle but gives it up. Alcantara regains guard but Dias lands several HEAVY shots. Alcantara stands but Dias slams him down to the mat. He's working Alcantara over with punches and Yuri is just getting peppered with punches. Alcantara gives up his back and has one knee on the ground. Dias landing knees to the butt and Alcantara hits a switch and takes Dias' back. Dias is defending a takedown with a kimura and uses it to break. Nice first round for Dias. 10-9 Hacran Dias

Round 2: Dias with a leaping knee and he clips Alcantara with a right hand. Awkward exchange where neither fighter lands. Nice body kick from Alcantara and he clinches up. Dias drips him to the mat and is working from guard. Nice elbows from the top as well as punches to the head and body. Alcantara throws his legs up and sneaks in an arm bar. That looked gnarly but Dias is able to get his arm free and resumes punching from the top. Alcantara is able to get the fight back to the feet but Dias gets the fight back down. He's in Yuri's half guard and landing elbows toe the side of the head. Yuri defends well but those are still landing with some power. The referee stands the fighters up and Alcantara looks very stiff in his standup. Alcantara tags Dias with punches as the round ends. 10-9 Hacran Dias

Round 3: Dias looks a bit tired as the third round pens. Alcantara lands a 1-2 combination. Dias is very tentative in this round. Dias lands a nice shot to the midsection. Alcantara swings wildly with an overhand and then another. Dias catches an Alcantara kick and then lands several punches to the head. They clinch against the fence and Dias gets the fight to the ground. Dias is landing several punches to the head and has Alcantara's back. Alcantara is able to create distance and stands. Dias looks for another takedown and gets it. Alcantara looks really tired and the referse stands the fighters up. Dias gets a takedown but Alcantara sprawls out just as he hits the ground and Dias is finally on his back. 10-9 Hacran Dias

Official Result: Hacran Dias defeats Yuri Alcantara by Unanimous Decision. The scores were 29-28, 30-27, 30-27.

Anistavio Medeiros vs. Rodrigo Damm

Round 1: Damm sticks Medeiros with a jab. Medeiros responds with an inside leg kick. Medeiros checks a leg kick. Nice leg kick from Rodrigo Damm. Second leg kick from Medeiros lands to the groin. Damm lands a right hand and staggers Medeiros. He follows up with another right that puts Medeiros down. Rodrigo is working for a rear naked choke and it's over. Fantastic submission for Rodrigo Damm who is yelling a bunch crazy words at the camera.

Official Result: Rodrigo Damm defeats Anistavio Medeiros by rear naked choke. The submission came at 2:12 in the first round. 

Delson Heleno vs. Francisco Trinaldo

Round 1: Trinaldo catching Heleno with a right hand to the chin as he comes in for a takedown. Heleno keeps the body lock and is working for a takedown. He's putting a lot of energy into this and Trinaldo has landed several knees to the body. Beautiful knees and punches from Trinaldo who is just brutalizing the body of Delson Heleno. Knee to the body from Trinaldo and Heleno is hurt. Heleno is relentless in these takedown attempts but he's done nothing to score points. Trinaldo is sprawled out and just landing punches and knees to a grounded Heleno. Trinaldo is throwing punches like a gorilla from the top. That's it. Herb Dean has seen enough. 

Official Result: Francisco Trinaldo defeats Delson Heleno by TKo. The stoppage came at 4:21 in the first round.

John Teixeira vs. Hugo Viana

Round 1: Teixeira lands an outside leg kick. Hugo stalks and they trade punches in the pocket. Nothing significant lands. Nice straight to the body from Wolverine. Viana wildly throwing right hands. Knee to the body from Teixeira. They trade in the pocket again and Hugo lands a nice right. Wild exchange and Teixeira lands a leg kick. Teixeira slips as he comes in and Viana lands several punches. Knee to the body from Teixeira. Everything is being thrown with power. Another exchange. These guys are going all out. Nice switch kick from Hugo. Viana with another punch to the body. Teixeira wildly throws a punch and gives up his back. Viana swarms and lands some nice elbows from the clinch on the exit. They tie up and trade knees to the body to close the round. 10-9 Hugo Viana

Round 2: Teixeira clinches up and is looking to get the fight to the ground. Viana turns John into the cage and they break. Teixeira back to a clinch and gets Hugo to the ground momentarily. Punches to the body and Viana is back to his feet and pushes Teixeira against the fence. They break and Teixeira lands a nice leg kick. Viana landing punches tot he body. Teixeira gets a clinch and lands a knee to the head. Viana lands two hooks and takes a head kick in response. Teixeira is slowing Viana down with those leg kicks. With a minute left in the round we're even on significant strikes. Teixeira attempts a trip and Hugo steps away. Viana looks exhausted as round two comes to a close. 10-9 John Teixeira

Round 3: Teixeira back to throwing leg kicks. He follows up with a right hand and an uppercut. Viana with his own leg kick but Teixeira lands his own in response. Viana looks to have gotten a second wind as he lands an overhand right. An inside leg kick lands to the groin  and Viana is hurt. Stop in the fight. Action continues and Teixeira is stalking but Viana looks to have recovered decently. Snapping jab from Viana and Teixeira with a leg kick. Teixeira closes the distance and is working to get the fight to the ground. Viana has great takedown defense and gets back to his feet. Digging uppercut from Viana. They exchange punches and Viana is circling away. Teixeira with a kick to the body and then another takedown attempt. He finally gets Viana to the ground but Hugo is right back up. Great takedown defense. Fun fight. 10-9 John Teixeira

Thiago Perpétuo vs. Leonardo Mafra

Round 1: They immediately trade kicks and punches. Mafra appears to have the slight edge early on as he's getting those kicks off just a bit quicker. He lands a nice kick to the body and Perpetuo seems a bit tentative early on. Mafra doubles up on leg kicks but he's dropping his hands whenever he attacks. Perpetuo briefly clinches up and lands some knees to the body before they separate. Nice counter left from Perpetuo. Mafra lands a knee to the head from the clinch. They are wildly throwing punches and Mafra's lack of striking defense is going to cause problems later on. Perpetuo has some swelling on his face. They trade knees from the clinch and Mafra defends a single leg with short punches. Nice inside elbow from Perpetuo. 10-9 Leonardo Mafra

Round 2: The action begins immediately as the second round opens with the fighters trading punches. Mafra is doing a great job at landing power shots but he's throwing everything with bad intentions. Nice left hand from Perpetuo. Perpetuo is the more technical striker and is able to land several punches before getting the fight to the ground. He's working Mafra over from the top with punches and elbows. Mafra throws his legs up for an arm bar but Perpetuo defends and then unleashes with punches. Nice work from Perpetuo in working to pass to side control. Mafra is able to keep his guard but he's doing a poor job at defending himself from those punches. The round ends with Perpetuo on top. 10-9 Thiago Perpetuo. 

Round 3: A right hand puts Mafra down. He follows up with punches. That's it. Fight's over. Nice win for Perpetuo. 

Official Result: Thiago Perpetuo defeats Leonardo Mafra by TKO. The stoppage came at :41 in the third round. 

Marcos Vanicius Borges Pancini vs. Wagner Campos

Round 1: Campos throws a lazy leg kick to open the fight. Campos throws a wild over hand and can't find anything. He lands two punches and then a leg kick lands to the groin. Quick break in action and we're back. Nice counter left from Campos. Marcos responds with a right hand. Campos counters with a nice straight left down the pipe. Nice chopping leg kick from Campos. Pancini responds with punches. Pancini comes forward wildly with punches and Campos clinches and gets the fight to the ground. He's working short elbows from the guard of Vanicius Pancini. He stands and passes the guard and quickly transitions to full mount. He's just throwing punches until Vanicius gives his back. Campos gets a head/arm choke but gives up on the choke. Campos gets the fight back to the ground and gets hit with an up kick. Vanicius is active from the bottom and is rocking Campos with those up kicks. Great first round. 10-9 Wagner Campos

Round 2: Pancini with a spinning wheel kick but he can't land it. He tries to close the distance and get a clinch but Campos escapes. Pancini comes forward with a flying knee and is dropped with a well timed right hand. Campos looks to finish but Pancini appears to have regained his senses. Campos passes to side control but Pancini is able to get back to half guard. Campos has a kimura but Pancini defends well. Vanicius gets back to guard and then Campos immediately back to half guard. Beautiful work from Campos. Vanicius is landing hammerfists from the bottom and Campos dives to side control. Those hammerfists opened up a cut over the left eye of Campos. Campos stands and Pancini lands an up kick. He's staying in this fight by being active from the bottom. 10-9 Wagner Campos

Round 3: Vanicius comes out southpaw in the last round. He throws a high kick but misses his mark. Front kick lands but nothing behind it. Flying knee lands and Vanicius is teeing off with punches and knees. Campos is out on his feet. Pancini is pouring it on and Herb Dean is forced to stop the fight. 

Official Result: Marcos Vanicius defeats Wagner Campos by TKO. The stoppage came at 1:04 in the third.

Felipe Arantes vs. Milton Viera

Round 1: Viera throws a front kick to open the round. Arantes is looking to find his range as he paws out two jabs and then switches his stance. He lands a kick to the body of Viera. Viera responds with two punches. Chopping leg kick from Arantes. Viera counters a left jab with a nice overhand. Right hand from Arantes and Viera responds with a nice takedown. Viera is working from half-guard and is working to pass by throwing short punches to the head. Viera passes and gets a very high and tight side control. Arantes is on his hip trying to create space and Viera is working for a head&arm choke. As Viera passes over Arantes is able to escape and get Milton back into guard. Nice punches from the top as Milton stacks Arantes to land punches. Nice work from Viera from the top to get the round. 10-9 Milton Viera.

Round 2: Arantes is stalking Viera and lands a nice flying knee. He misses with a follow up front kick. Viera shoots from way outside but Arantes steps away and Viera can't get a leg. Another jumping knee from Arantes. He's stalking Viera and lands a nice chopping leg kick. Viera tries to step in with a hook but he's countered with a leg kick. Viera shoots and Arantes is able to sprawl out. Viera comes forward with punches but can't land anything. Arantes is able to land a nice leg kick. Arantes lands a jab that spins Viera around. Viera lands a wheel kick and Arantes is rocked. He charges forward and Arantes immediately ties up and gets the fight to the ground. The horn sounds. 10-9 Felipe Arantes

Round 3: Arantes is landing that jab and Viera is having trouble finding his range. They exchange kicks and it's Arantes who is landing the more significant strikes. He lands a head kick and then peppers Vierra with punches. Viera shoots and Arantes stuffs and then lands punches to the head on the ground. Viera is finally able to pull guard and he's working a high guard for either a sweep or triangle. The referee stands the fighters up and Viera throws two front kicks. Arantes with a nice stiff jab and then a spinning back kick to the body. Viera responds with a wheel kick but misses. 10-9 Felipe Arantes
