The Michigan Wolverines have secured a verbal commitment from athlete/cornerback Channing Stribling today.
He's a tall defensive back at 6'2", but he could certainly work on his speed, as he currently runs a 4.6 40-yard dash.
Admittedly, this scholarship offer is a head-scratcher to me.
The other schools that were interested in him are under the radar, including Ball State, Hampton, North Carolina State and UNC Charlotte. That's it, really.
Jourdan Lewis is their other cornerback that has committed, while Dymonte Thomas is a highly rated safety who gave his pledge shortly after Shane Morris did.
Certainly, one would imagine Michigan could have found more talented cornerbacks out there interested in coming to their university. Greg Mattison and Brady Hoke must have seen some potential in this kid to warrant offering him a scholarship, especially since they don't have many left until their class is filled for 2013.
In any case, a team can't have too much depth in the secondary.
