The Ohio State Buckeyes have a long-standing rivalry with the Michigan Wolverines. This contest takes place every November on the field, but that is not the only place the two battle it out.

Brady Hoke has been burning down the recruiting trail, and his year's head start on setting the tone is showing itself with the Wolverines' 21 commitments for 2013.

Urban Meyer, the man who caused quite a stir in the Big Ten with his recruiting heroics a year ago, has just 11 commitments and is currently looking up to the Buckeyes' hated rival.

On the bright side, there is plenty of time for Urban Meyer and his staff to get things going and close the gap between themselves and Michigan. The quality is there for the Buckeyes and the ground will be gained in adding more quality players to the mix to buoy the overall talent level coming into the program.

Offensively, Ohio State has some studs committed, while on defense Cameron Burrows sets the pace in the class so far. Their are quite a few other targets out there on the defensive side that could truly push Ohio State closer to the top in the battle for the mythical recruiting National Championship.

Players like Alex Anzalone, Vonn Bell, Michael Hill and Marquez North are among the Buckeye targets that people should have their eye on.

As always with recruiting, we have to remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. Brady Hoke has the tough task of fighting off de-commitments, while Meyer has proven himself quite capable of flipping targets.

Where these teams stand in June is not exactly where they will finish come February, it should be interesting to watch.
