For those who pay close attention to the happenings in WWE, it's very obvious that AJ Lee is moving up the ladder. She's become one of the most intriguing figures in the entire company.
Hopefully WWE learns two lessons from this.
Divas Don't Have To Be Cookie Cutter
For years, WWE had a certain look that they wanted from the divas. If you watched wrestling for the last couple of years, you already know what look I'm talking about. If you haven't been watching that long, just simply look up pictures of Maryse, Eve, Kelly, Melina, Candice, etc.
I wouldn't kick her out of bed—by any means, but AJ doesn't exactly fit that mold. Her breasts aren't gigantic. She also doesn't have the standard hour glass figure that her predecessors had.
WWE needs to learn that they can find stars for their divas division who look like normal women. They don't have to keep looking at modeling agencies. They don't need to just find girls who would look like centerfolds.
AJ has opened the doors for a lot of women who are looking to catch their big break in this industry. There are a lot of talented female in-ring performers who have felt stuck on the independent wrestling circuit for years. Now, they can have something to shoot for, and that's thanks to AJ.
Divas Can Do Two Things At Once
I've always been a proponent of the divas playing bigger roles in WWE. Aside from working as competitors in their own division, the company should have them doing double duty. They should be additional weapons in helping their male counterparts get over.
Imagine if Rosa Mendes wasn't just standing around in the corner of Primo & Epico. Imagine how much more heel heat Jinder Mahal would have if he were verbally berating an American diva. Imagine how much more people would care about Tyson Kidd & Justin Gabriel if they had a hot chick with them.
Imagine divas playing a more important part in the entire landscape of WWE.
