Phil Di Giuseppe is a complete offensive player and is one of the better scoring talents in college hockey. In 40 games with the University of Michigan this year, he scored 11 goals and had 15 assists. The 2012-13 season will be a very important one for Di Giuseppe because he has the chance to break out and become a superstar player in the CCHA.
He doesn't strike you as a physical player, but he plays the game with a physical style that makes him tough to win puck battles against along the boards. Di Giuseppe's speed is also impressive, and he has the puck-handling skills to make effective moves around defensemen in open ice or against a goalie on breakaway opportunities.
Di Giuseppe isn't an elite defensive forward, but he is almost always in the right position to make a play if he needs to in his own zone. His high hockey IQ is another reason why Di Giuseppe is one of the most complete collegiate prospects in this draft class.
All the teams who passed on Di Giuseppe will be sorry because there are few players in this entire class that have a work ethic comparable to the Wolverines star. His collegiate experience at Michigan will help prepare him well for the next step of his hockey career.
