Bill Plaschke and Bomani Jones Debate Beyonce on "Behind the Horn"
At this rate, we may very well have a greatest hits compilation of Bill Plaschke's best moment on Around the Horn's YouTube offshoot, Behind the Horn.
The latest behind-the-scenes account finds Plaschke bothered by the mystery of Beyonce's name. He gets the answer to his burning conundrum when the others tell him it's her first name, and Knowles is her last.
Of course, the answers come with grunts and sighs that usually complement a discussion with your out-of-touch grandfather.
Oh, this kooky old man and his bewilderment by these kids nowadays.
The best part of the video is the L.A. Times columnist stating Destiny's Child, the group Beyonce once featured in, sounded an awful lot like Wilson Phillips. Hmm, I guess he could have gone with En Vogue, SWV or even Color Me Badd and be more exact with his comparison.
I'm not quite sure if Plaschke is trolling here, or if he is this adorably out of touch with pop culture.
This whole discussion pales to the reaction given by Bomani Jones, who is completely flummoxed by the fact that this ridiculous discourse is actually taking place.
This isn't the first time Plaschke has dominated the behind-the-scenes video. He recently hit on Jackie MacMullan like a true sports-nerd Don Juan.
I now await some more mind-bending discussions from Plaschke. Don't say he isn't hip either, because he has Neil Diamond saved to a "new hits" shuffle on his iPod.
