As we heard on Raw following the firing of John Laurinaitis, we will be seeing a guest GM from years past each week until a full replacement is named.
We already saw Mick Foley fill in this past Monday on Raw, and he will put his suit back on again for Friday when he is the guest GM for SmackDown.
Many names have been mentioned as possible guests, but one thing WWE has the chance to do with this short-term storyline is fix a past mistake.
WWE had a computer spouting orders via Michael Cole for over a year, and then, when Triple H came in as COO, the storyline was dropped without so much as a whisper.
Many fans were upset that a year long angle, which annoyed everyone, had zero payoff, but WWE could right that wrong by bringing back the laptop for one more night as GM.
By bringing back the anonymous GM and having his or her identity revealed, it would make a lot of the more loyal fans happy to have a concrete resolution.
Even if WWE just ended up saying it was Vince McMahon or John Laurinaitis all along, it would still give us a final answer and nothing to harp on.
I am sure many fans have already put this out of their minds, but the ones who have not would be much happier if the storyline was resolved once and for all.
WWE has always been known as a place where history is ignored and rewritten for the sake of a storyline on a constant basis, but this was a long-term angle which was designed to annoy fans. Having something like that simply disappear without fans being able to witness the anonymous GM be revealed left a bad taste in some mouths.
If WWE ends up revealing who the anonymous GM was, it could lead to us to finding out who the new permanent GM will be as well, which would resolve both a new and old storyline at the same time.
What do you think? Should WWE use the guest GM storyline to resolve the anonymous GM storyline that never finished up?
