San Jose Earthquakes Sign Bobby Convey
The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the team has signed United States National Team midfielder Bobby Convey, who was recently released by Reading.
“It is rare to be able to acquire a U.S. international in the prime of his career,” said General Manager of Soccer Operations John Doyle. “When he became available we jumped at the opportunity to add him to our team. He is a great attacking player who will make an immediate impact, and our fans will enjoy watching him.”
Convey was the third youngest player, at 17 years and 151 days, to make his debut for the senior U.S. National Team on October 25, 2000 vs. Mexico and in 2000 he was named one of World Soccer Magazine’s “Top 100 Rising Stars” in the world.
Unfortunately, Convey’s career has not lived up to expectation, mainly due to injuries.
If he can stay healthy, Convey will be a great addition for San Jose.
