Well it seems like the Tampa Bay Lightning have finally found their starting goaltender for the future as today they traded three draft picks and Sebastien Caron to Nashville for the 6'7'' Swedish netminder Anders Lindback.

Lindback has been Pekka Rinne's backup for the past two seasons in Nashville and has seen limited action in those two years. What we have seen though is a giant who covers up a lot of net and has so much potential to be a great starting goalie in the NHL someday.

No one should be curious why Lightning GM Steve Yzerman would take a risk on such an unproven netminder.

In Lindback's time with Nashville, he has learned a lot from Rinne, has really picked up on his style of game, and has a lot of the same traits that Pekka has. Anders has very good mobility and exceptional reflexes, and he is a hybrid goalie that combines the butterfly and standup styles.

Lindback first came to the NHL in the 2010-11 season and right away made an impact when he won the backup job in Nashville over the likes of Chet Pickard and Jeremy Smith. He would go on to have an exceptional rookie year going 11-5-2 with two shutouts in 22 games and a 2.60 GAA as well as a .915 SVS%. His sophomore 2011-12 season would not be his best, however, as he lacked consistency going 5-8-0 in 16 games with a 2.42 GAA and a .912 SVS%.

Anders now heads to a city where goaltending has been a problem for the past few seasons, so he will be looking to change that in a big way. Lindback will head to training camp as the starter, and there will likely be a four way battle for the backup job between Mathieu Garon, Riku Helenius, Jaroslav Janus and Dustin Tokarski.

All in all it looks like Tampa Bay is looming to be a playoff contender next season, and today`s acquisition of Lindback helps that statement in a big way.
