Welcome to BR5, your daily source for sports and pop culture news.

It’s Friday and you know what that means! The workweek is almost over now, and BR5 is here to clue you in on your prime viewing options for the weekend on: BR5’s “Check It Out.”

First off, we want to give a heads up to all you non-sports enthusiasts. Fridays always provide us with an opportunity to hit the theaters. Popcorn, soda, some candy perhaps? Sounds like a pretty solid way to spend the evening. So if that sounds the least bit appetizing, “That’s My Boy” starring Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg opens across America today.  Sandler’s been putting out movies for quite a while now. Instead of a hockey goon turned golf pro, lawn mower riding water boy, or love struck Hawaiian, in this film Sandler is playing a bad father to successful son (Samberg).  As expected, there seems to be quite a lot of physical humor and stunts as well. Like most Sandler flicks, you know what you’re getting when you go to the theater to see him: take it or leave it.

If you decide to leave it, there are a few sports options that certainly won’t disappoint, the first of which is the US Open. It started on Thursday, and they’ll be in San Francisco all weekend battling it out. Can Tiger Woods finally put it together and win another Major? Names like Bubba Watson, Phil Mickelson, and Rory McIlroy will be on hand (along with some blustery wind off the bay) to try and derail his shot at a long awaited victory.

If you’re still not interested this last one is sure to grab you. The NBA Finals have been great so far. No reason to think they won’t get better as this series continues. LeBron James and Kevin Durant have been solid, but which one will be good enough to win their first ring? Only one way to find out: Check It Out!
