The opening round of the U.S. Open at Olympic is in the books, and the course lived up to it's harrowing reputation. Much was made of the two marquee groups heading into yesterday. One consisting of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson, the other Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and defending champion Rory McIlroy.
Of the six, only Woods had a productive day, finishing one-under par. The other five combined for 33-over-par on the day. Michael Thompson is the surprise leader entering the second round with a three-stroke lead. Will any of the big names make a move, or is it Tiger's tournament to win?
The second round has come to an end. Here is the round-two leaderboard:

For anyone interested we'll be back doing this again tomorrow for the entirety of coverage. Things have really started to heat up today and it will only get more intense over the next couple days. Have a great night!
Jim Furyk had a really solid, consistent day to get a share of the lead. Toms was solid as well. Tiger was a little erratic outside of his tee shots but did a tremendous job playing his way out of trouble. There are at least 15 players that still have a real chance.
Everyone who followed today, it's been real. Hopefully I was able to help you keep up on things. Here is the final leaderboard through the second round:

After 12 hours of this live blog, TV coverage is over. K.J. Choi and Fredrik Jacobson are still in contention at +3. Both have completed 16 holes.
They're done showing anything on TV it seems.
I would have liked to have seen Andy Zhang a little more no matter how well or poorly he was doing.
And Choi burns the edge, wow! He has an even longer bogey putt now. He holes it to drop to +3.
Beautiful fourth shot by Choi to set up a par putt on 16. He's lurking!

Harrington has had a respectable first two rounds with a 74 and 70 to sit at +4 and just five shots back.
Toms with his birdie putt and it comes up short. He taps it in to finish at -1 under for the tournament. He shares the lead with Tiger and Furyk. Interesting weekend ahead.
Toms is on the green and has a relatively long birdie putt. He has a shot to get the lead on his own and be the only player to go under par in both rounds.
Toms hits a nice fairway drive off the 18th tee. He has a chance to take the outright lead even though it seems like no one wants to take it.
Tim Herron pitches straight into the hole! Toms misses a birdie putt and makes his par to stay in a share of the lead at -1.

Tiger with a short putt to save par, and he knocks it in. He follows up his 69 with a 70 and holds a share of the clubhouse lead.
Toms hits his second into a bunker as we on No. 17. Mickelson for birdie and he gently rolls it in! He gets to +7 through two rounds.
Tiger hits a great shot out of the bunker for a good look at a par putt. Choi putting for birdie again and comes up short.
Tiger's second on No. 18 falls short of the green and into a bunker. A couple tough breaks for Tiger to close.
Toms makes his par putt to stay at +1. Tiger off the tee at No. 18 and he gets into the fairway again.
Harrington makes a birdie on No. 16 to get to +4.
Toms misses his birdie putt badly. Tiger makes his par with one more hole to go.
Phil has a crushing miss for a birdie. He makes par on No. 17. Tiger gets his shot at birdie. He just misses to the left! Tiger will have to do a little more work to make par.
Choi makes birdie to get to +2! Thompson birdies No. 8 to get back to +1!
Wow! Tiger is Tiger. I don't know if he makes that putt but that was an incredible third shot to give himself a birdie opportunity.
