Robert Nkemdiche Commits to Clemson: What LSU, Alabama and Georgia Do Now

1 of 7

The nation's No. 1 recruit, Robert Nkemdiche, has made his choice, and it is a shocker. The one and only Clemson Tigers have landed Nkemdiche, and it is a huge coup for Dabo Swinney's program.

While Clemson will be beaming with delight, Alabama, LSU and Georgia must regroup, refocus and go after other prospects to make up for the loss of Nkemdiche.

Let's see what is next for LSU, Alabama and Georgia.

LSU Recruiting Class Capsule

2 of 7

LSU's recruiting class currently sits with 17 commitments, and according to Scout.com, six of them are 4-star prospects.

Scout.com also ranks the class 11th right now in its team rankings. The headliner is 4-star OT Ethan Pocic, followed by 4-star QB Hayden Rettig and DB Jeryl Brazil.

Also look out for DE Frank Herron and S Jeremy Cutrer.

Alabama's Recruiting Class Capsule

3 of 7

Alabama's class is ranked No. 5 by Scout.com, as—per the site—the Tide has 18 commitments with nine being 4-star or higher rated prospects.

The headliner of the class is Reuben Foster, who could very well challenge Nkemdiche for No. 1 overall recruit status before we're done.

Also watch out for QB Cooper Bateman, RB Altee Tenpenny and TE O.J. Howard. Alabama's class will be just fine.

Georgia's Recruiting Class Capsule

Georgia couldn't parlay their hot start on the trail into landing Nkemdiche, who resides in their backyard. Yet, the Bulldogs still have a good group assembled, as it stands right now.

Ranked No. 6 by Scout.com, UGA's class is headlined by QB Brice Ramsey. Also look out for DB Shaq Wiggins and ATH Tramel Terry.

Seeing Nkemdiche leave the state has to be a blow to the UGA staff.

What Does LSU Do Now?

Losing out on Nkemdiche will surely force the Tigers to really rev up their efforts with other prospects.

For starters, Nkemdiche was a DE prospect, a good fit in the Tiger defense. So from here, watch LSU really rev up on Tim Williams, as he's an explosive 6'4", 230-pound DE from near Baton Rouge.

DT Greg Gilmore likely is a lock for LSU, yet also look for LSU to spend more attention on prospects such as S Max Redfield, DT Justin Manning, WR Stacy Coley, OT Laremy Tunsil and OLB Kendall Beckwith, among others.

Also, WR Ricky Seals-Jones now becomes an even bigger priority.

What Does Alabama Do Now?

'Bama has to be perhaps the most shocked of any team on this list, as even Clemson believed they would land Nkemdiche. However, the Crimson Tide will simply just move on and be alright.

I think we'll see them rev up their efforts on DT Montravius Adams, OT Laremy Tunsil, WR Robert Foster, OLB Matthew Thomas, DE Tim Williams, RB Derrick Henry, DB Vonn Bell, TE Hunter Henry, DE Demarcus Walker, WR Jordan Cunningham, OG Tyrone Crowder and RB Alvin Kamara.

They'll also try to pry LB Daniel McMillan away from Florida.

What Does Georgia Do Now?

It never really seemed as if Nkemdiche was heading to Georgia.

Sure, I predicted Alabama personally, but even though Georgia hired one of Nkemdiche's former coaches, I don't think they were too close to landing him.

Mark Richt and his staff now will move on and focus on prospects like DT Montravius Adams, OLB Matthew Thomas, DB Vonn Bell, DE Elijah Daniel, WR Marquez North, TE Hunter Henry and OG Tyrone Crowder.
