Predicting Over/Under Wins for the NFC East
Every year it seems the NFC East has the potential to produce two or three playoff teams and 2012 is no different. The New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and, yes, even the Washington Redskins could make a playoff push this year.
In the video above, lead NFL writer Josh Zerkle and I do an over/under for each team's chances on getting 10 wins this season.
The Giants squeaked into the playoffs with nine wins last year, but I certainly see them improving on that record. Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin will keep the team together in spite of any problems that might arise.
The same can't be said of Jason Garrett and Tony Romo down in Dallas. Both seem to do well when everything is in place, but seem to fall apart when adversity strikes. Josh is much more bullish on Dallas than I am. All I know is if Garrett doesn't get to and make noise in the playoffs, you can bet he'll be getting a call from Jerry Jones...
Another coach under a different kind of pressure is the Redskins' Mike Shanahan. He's rode along on his rep for a long time and it's time to put up or shut up. He has to show signs that the Redskins are headed in the right direction, and the drafting of RGIII probably buys him two years to do so.
Finally, Andy Reid has all the power when it comes to football decisions in Philadelphia. He has a roster loaded with talent that should be considered a serious Super Bowl contender. As Josh says above, if he can't win 10 games with the talent he has on hand, his hold on absolute power may be short-lived.
