Steve Bernier is going to be kicking himself for the rest of his life.

At 10:10 of the first period, Bernier was assessed a game misconduct and a five-minute boarding major for his hit on Rob Scuderi.

Scuderi went back to play the puck and reversed the puck on his back-hand up the boards. Bernier continued on his path and Scuderi turned just before Bernier hit him.

That slight turning motion caused Scuderi to be put in a vulnerable position and he was flattened into the boards and lay almost motionless, face-down on the ice for about half a minute before being helped to the locker room with a bloodied nose.

Scuderi hasn't returned yet, but drawing the major penalty gave Kings fans a huge energy boost.

The Kings took advantage and scored not once, not twice, but three times on the major penalty: Dustin Brown, Trevor Lewis and Jeff Carter all have a goal as the Kings lead 3-0 at the first intermission.

The Devils are attempting to come back from a 3-0 series deficit, but will now have to come back from a 3-0 deficit in this game in order to force a Game 7 which would be Wednesday night at 8pm Eastern Time.

The Devils haven't given up hope all series, despite dropping the first three games, but this deficit might be too big for the Devils to overcome.

Kings' goaltender Jonathan Quick has not given up four goals in a game in these playoffs and there were only eight games this season in which he surrendered four or more goals.
