Greatest Striker in the World
Lionel Messi, the 24-year-old Barcelona and Argentina forward, scored a record 73 goals in all competitions this past club season. That total included 50 strikes in La Liga, another record.
Many will point to Cristiano Ronaldo as Messi’s main competition, but while Messi qualifies for consideration as a so-called “False No. 9,” Ronaldo can be viewed as either a forward or a wide midfielder.
So, is Ronaldo the best? Or is he even a striker?
Others showed outstanding form this past season, including Robin van Persie, Karim Benzema and Radamel Falcao. But can any of them measure up to Messi or Ronaldo?
