LB Recruit Simmons Arrested
The way USC molds linebackers, Maurice Simmons had the potential to make millions in just four years.
Now his future might all be changed.
Scott Wolf is reporting on the Daily Breeze that the four-star linebacker was arrested Wednesday, for an alleged armed robbery in Compton.
One of the top linebacker recruits in California, and the No. 4 weak-side linebacker in the country, Simmons boasted 150 tackles, three sacks, three forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries as a junior.
"Someone was robbed on the street and we were flagged down by the victim. We then confiscated a handgun and the victim's belongings (from Simmons),'' said Steve Whitmore, a Los Angeles Sheriff Dept. spokesperson.
Simmons is now held on a $50,000 bond and scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
USC has said they are aware of the arrest, but have not given any details into their chosen course of action regarding Simmons.
