Maybe the Trojans ought to hold summer camps more often.
A day after receiving a verbal commitment from 2014 standout offensive tackle Jordan Poland, the Trojans struck again by receiving one from 2013 Scout.com 4-star receiver Steven Mitchell from Alemany High School in Mission Hills, Calif.
Mitchell, rated the 15th-best receiver in the nation by Scout.com, has long wanted to be a Trojan.
According to Scout's Greg Biggins, Mitchell had this to say about wearing the cardinal and gold:
“I’ve always wanted to go to USC, that has been my dream school since I was little. Whenever I thought about playing football in college, I always thought about myself playing at USC. This is such a big moment for me and I’m just really excited. Not many people get the opportunity to play for their dream school and for me, to have this chance, it’s incredible.”
Though Mitchell is not big (5'10", 180 lbs), he is extremely athletic and is dangerous in the open field.
With Eldridge Massington and Mitchell now in the fold, this likely represents the entirety of receivers the Trojans will take this year.
Mitchell is the Trojans' ninth verbal and fourth Scout 4-star prospect to go along with five 5-stars.
In addition to USC, Mitchell held offers from over two dozen schools, including powerhouses such as Oklahoma, Notre Dame and Nebraska.
