Well, Al Davis has done it again. He has taken a guy out of the first round of the NFL Draft based on "40 Time" at the NFL Combine.
Sources say that Oakland will "likely" cut the former first round pick from Texas back in 2006. Huff was benched by former Oakland coach Lane Kiffin in just five games thru the 2008 season. Huff would be immediately come cheap considering he is considered damaged goods. The 49ers will need a free safety considering they have Mark "Dazzling" Roman on the roster for now.
Huff is still relatively young, he is only 25 and turning 26 next month. Imagine a secondary with corners Nate Clements and Vontae Davis (selected with the tenth pick in late April), and safeties Michael Huff and Michael Lewis. This would greatly improve the pass coverage for the defense.
Let's hope that management realizes that Roman is NOT the answer. Sign Huff to a four year deal worth $12M and extra $4M with bonus and incentives.
