FC Barcelona will not be happy tomorrow morning when they wake up to comments made from their own player about their top transfer target.

France and Barcelona left-back Eric Abidal spoke to French magazine Le Parisien about his club and their pursuit of his international teammate Karim Benzema.

Barcelona have made their feelings known that they would very much like Lyon ace  join their side in the capital of Catalunya.

However, Abidal also made his feelings known, and the full-back reckons a move to the Catalan giants for Benzema would ruin his blossoming career.

Speaking to Le Parisien, Abidal said, "Coco (Benzema) is having a great season with Lyon, but he needs to continue playing regularly to improve.

"I think that at Barcelona the competition is very tough and that could harm him. If we signed Benzema where would he play? In (Samuel) Eto'o's place."

Abidal wasn't content however, and seemed even more determined to get himself fined by his club.

Speaking about Barca's other top transfer target, another fellow France teammate in Bayern Munich's Franck Ribery, Abidal said:

"It is the same thing with Ribery. Barca want him, but they already have (Thierry) Henry and he is not going to leave the club just one year before the World Cup finals."
