Ramon Sessions vs. Deron Williams: Who Makes More Sense as Lakers PG?
The Lakers are in transition with an aging roster, little cap room and many needs to address. One option that fans pine for is "Get Deron Williams by any means possible."
The Lakers are faced with a closing window, and a trade of stars could perhaps pry that open just a bit.
While Williams is a fantastic player, signing him is not so easy. Los Angeles would have to unload either Pau, Bynum or (gasp!) Kobe to make room for such a costly addition.
The alternative is to stay the course with Ramon Sessions. He had a miserable playoff series against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but one series does not make him a poor player. He's a crafty pick-and-roll operator who can provide value so long as the Lakers actually run it. Of course, Deron Williams is among the best pick-and-roll runners in the league. It's ultimately a choice between a large, sweeping move and financial flexibility.
