Today, the Carolina Hurricanes picked up Finnish Left Winger Jussi Jokinen from their Southeastern Division rival Tampa Bay Lightning for tough man Wade Brookbank, and Josef Melichar, and a 2009 fourth-round pick.

Jussi Jokinen has only 16 points in 46 games this season but is a young and talented kid who is capable of putting up 50-60 points in a season.

Wade Brookbank has been used primarily as the tough man for the Canes, but the lack of offensive talent narrowed Brookbank as an extra man on the bench. Brookbank was moved from Defenseman to Winger at the beginning of the season to help fill the voids in at defenseman, but Brookbank's stats did not improve. Brookbank has stayed a lot of this season in Albany, playing for Carolina's AHL affiliate.

Josef Melichar was also used mostly as an extra man on Carolina's bench. He has filled in mostly for the injured defenseman that has bothered the Canes all season. But lately, the Canes have gone the alternate route bringing up Rookie Brian Rodney instead of the veteran Melichar.
