It is summer and that means real football news can be hard to come by, but there are still nuggets to be found out there. Here are some items to get your day started.

Berry Tramel writes for the Oklahoman, and posted his thoughts on the out-of-conference schedules that each SEC team is facing in 2012. Tramel does not seem too high on the Hogs' out-of-league opposition this year. You can also see how he has ranked the rest of the SEC.

It is always interesting to hear writers gripe about any SEC schedule when it comes to non-league foes. It seems like they forget that playing through the conference is tough enough already.

Yahoo Sports has an article rating the top conference by offensive position group. Is there a reason to sense a West coast bias since they give the nod to the Pac-12 in the three biggest categories of QB, receivers and running backs? When it comes to the interior, though, the SEC rules. Razorback center Travis Swanson gets a mention as one of the league’s top snappers.

While Texas A&M and Arkansas like the idea of hosting recruits at off-campus sites, it seems that an agreement has been reached by Florida and Georgia that their annual game in Jacksonville will not include recruits being hosted by the home team.

Preseason previews will start to show up somewhere almost daily at this time of year. Given the slow news cycle, Athlon’s look at the 2012 Arkansas football team is available by clicking here.

In baseball news, it was a great day for three Arkansas players who were selected in the Major League baseball draft. Matt Reynolds, DJ Baxendale and Nolan Sanburn were all selected on the second day of the draft. Check out the link to find out which team took each player and in what round.

They will join the rest of their Arkansas teammates this week in Waco as they take on the Baylor Bears in a super regional round of the NCAA baseball tourney.

Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn has been telling people that Baylor is every bit as talented as the teams the Hogs face in the SEC.  Nate Allen shares the perspective of Van Horn in this item from the Baxter Bulletin.

Here is one other football item for today. It is by Glenn Guilbeau of the Shreveport Times. He gives credit to the SEC's revenue-sharing model as one of the big reasons for the conference’s success.
