Dallas Stars Put Sean Avery On Waivers: No Surprises There!

Daniel ArouchianSenior Analyst IFebruary 7, 2009

The Dallas Stars put Sean Avery on waivers today. If he goes unclaimed by Monday, he'll be assigned to the American Hockey League.

There's only one problem. The Stars don't have an AHL team. They'll have to find somewhere for him to play.

The Dallas Stars have a few players who are skating with the Hamilton Bulldogs the farm team of the Montreal Canadiens, but Bulldogs GM Julien Brisebois said there's no room for Avery on the team even if there's a few spots left.

Reports suggests that the New York Rangers would be interested in Avery. He'll have to start by playing in their farm team first in Hartford.

Wherever he ends up,you can bet he'll be monitored closely by both the team and the NHL.
