After leading the Arizona Cardinals to the NFL’s 4th best offense, it was only a matter of time until Todd Haley was considered for a head coaching job. Kansas City was going through a few candidates and new GM Scott Pioli decided on Haley early Friday morning. Now this would be highly interesting, if only the Chiefs had any offensive talent.
I’m not completely sold on QB Tyler Thigpen and we all know that QB Brodie Croyle can’t stay healthy long enough to prove himself worthy of a starting job. RB Larry Johnson wants out, and he wants out bad. TE Tony Gonzalez has said that he wants to be traded, especially if they had hired a college coach, but with the hiring of Haley, we will have to see what Gonzalez decides to do and what the Chiefs' organization decides to do with him. WR Dwayne Bowe could be a decent prospect, but only if they can find a QB.
They have some young talent on defense, and a few young running backs, which may enable them to let Johnson go. They are not quite fantasy relevant yet, especially the defense, who was 31st in the NFL and had no return game. Kansas City could be a team to keep an eye on for developing talent, but don't label their players "fantasy musts" until about three or four years from now.
