The St. Louis Rams have signed 4th-round wide receiver Chris Givens and 7th-round linebacker Aaron Brown to four-year deals. Pro Football Talk broke the Givens signing while Brown announced he had signed on Twitter earlier this afternoon.
Although specific terms of the deal were not released, Givens draft slot position should net him a signing bonus near $500,000
As of last week, the Rams were one of four teams to not of sign any of their draft picks, as the team wanted the players to focus on their transition from college to the pros without getting boggled down with contract talks. CBS Sports reported on May 25 that General Manager Les Snead would be apt to open talks with players soon and have all players signed by the end of minicamp and OTAs on June 14.
Under the collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the player's union, a new rookie wage scale was agreed upon to make signing draft picks more simple than in the past.
Givens was drafted 96 overall and Brown was drafted with the second pick of the seventh round.
