Pachuca won the battle but lost the “guerra”, Tonight Pachuca won a spirited game 2-1 in front of their fans. However, the goal from Universidad de Chile was all they needed to advance to the next round.

After U de Chile's Maurico Arias was ejected in the 10th minute for taking a swing at a one of the Tuzos, the Tuzos were relentless in there attack.

Paraguayan national Edgar Benitiz was fouled in the box setting up dead-ball specialist Rodriguez who converted and gave the Tuzos a 1-0 advantage.

Pachuca's luck ended when the Chileans proved they to could convert penalties, a shot in the 58th brought the game to a draw and put Pachuca in dire straits.

In the 83rd minute it appeared  to the Pachuca fans that the U de Chile committed a “falta” in the box but ,the refree didn't think so. The Pachuca fans (behind a barbwire fence) went crazy. Three minutes later the refree was far more generous in awarding Pachuca a shot it failed to convert.

Still, Damian Alvarez of Argentina was loop in a beautiful kick to give Pachuca a 2-1 with four minutes left. Sloppy play from Pachuca resulted in two players being sent off in the final minutes of the game and the Mexican team failed to find the net a final time.

As a result due to the away goals rule Pachuca was eliminated an Universidad de Chile will advance to the next round of Copa de Liberedores.
