Jimmie Johnson has won three straight Sprint Cup championships in dominating fashion. So, easily, Johnson is the favorite to win a fourth straight right?
Who is then?
Carl Edwards. How can Edwards be the favorite over Johnson? Jimmie found himself asking the same question.
"Really? I just won three of these things," he said. "I can't believe I wouldn't be the favorite. But there is a lot of racing between now and then."
Jimmie Johnson's teammate Jeff Gordon pointed out that maybe people are just tired of seeing the same person win over and over again.
I mean don't get me wrong, it's just that to be the champion you have to beat the champion, and that champion is Jimmie Johnson.
"The 99 hasn't won a championship," said RCR driver Kevin Harvick, referring to Edwards. "So the 48 in my opinion is the championship-beating car, the car that you have to beat to win the championship."
The media just added even more determination to the 48 team to win the championship for a record fourth year in a row. A scary thought and situation for the rest of the drivers in the Sprint Cup.
Even Carl Edwards is a little skeptical that Johnson isn't the favorite.
"I haven't seen anybody do it yet. Even though we've won three straight, they could have won five straight if things would have went a little better for them," stated the favorite Edwards.
Jimmie Johnson is still the champion, and the favorite , until somebody knocks him off, and that will be very difficult to do.
