Undefeated world super-middleweight and light-heavyweight boxing champion announces his retirement after a successful career.
Calzaghe was world champion for an amazing 11 years and recorded an incredible winning streak of 46 wins from 46 fights including 32 KOs.
The Welshman, 36, said, "It was a difficult decision but I have achieved everything I wanted to achieve in boxing."
We held the WBO, WBA, WBC and IBF super-middleweight belts during his vast and impressive 16-year professional career.
He said he had a talk with his family and think he has chosen the right thing to do. He wants to spend more time with his kids and wife, and was told to stop by his mother.
Calzaghe was born on 23 March 1972 in London, moved to Wales when he was two, and built up an impressive record as an amateur.He won 110 of his 120 fight after taking up the harsh sport at the age of nine years old.
His first professional bout was against Paul Hanlon in 1993. Joe managed to win seven of his first nine bouts in round one and stop Hanlon in his tracks.
Calzaghe says he now plans to concentrate on his charity work and becoming a boxing promoter.
