Kenny DeJohnMay 29, 2012

Godzilla is back, but he'll be sporting a new look on Tuesday night when he suits up as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.

To go along with his new look, the veteran left-hander will also be sporting a new number.

Matsui has worn No. 55 his entire career but—because that number is currently owned by Matt Moore—he will instead wear No. 35, which was his own choice.

SI.com reports catcher/outfielder Stephen Vogt has been sent down in a corresponding move, and outfielder Brandon Guyer was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for Matsui.

Guyer is having season-ending shoulder surgery on Thursday.

The 37-year-old Matsui signed a minor league deal with the Rays on April 30, albeit with no guarantees of making it back to the majors.

He didn't exactly hit well in his extended spring training stint in Port Charlotte, hitting at a .170 clip with no home runs and just four RBI in 13 games.

In his career, Matsui owns a .285 average with 173 home runs and 753 RBI.
