Qatar Stage Five Neutralized

James ThompsonCorrespondent IFebruary 5, 2009

Today's Stage Five of the Tour of Qatar was neutralized after the death of a rider overnight.  Twenty-one-year-old Belgian Frederiek Nolf of the Topsport-Vlaanderen Team died overnight in his sleep due to a suspected heart attack.

The race was not run, but riders did a short 30-kilometer silent group ride in mourning and remembrance.

Tom Boonen (QuickStep) still leads the overall classification ahead of Roger Hammond and Heinrich Haussler (both Cervelo TestTeam), and racing will pick up tomorrow with the sixth and final stage.
