There is no argument that these two men are in the conversation when it comes to all-time great wrestlers. Both are supremely talented on the mic and obviously in the ring. Their names are Kurt Angle and Santino Marella. Oops. My bad, I'm fucked up right now. Who I meant to say was Bret the Hitman Hart.
Bret has stated often times that he will never be involved in pro wrestling again (besides the Hall of Fame). Hart has admitted that he and Angle have had numerous phone conversations.
They still keep in touch to this date. Most notably, in 2003 it was reported that there would be a match between the two at Wrestlemania 20. Of course, it didn't happen because Hart said he couldn't physically work a match. Most people know about his stroke and knows that he doesn't want to risk his health.
In an interview in 2005, he said he wished his body wasn't in as bad a shape as it was because it would have been an honor to have faced his good friend, Kurt Angle. It seemed that his relationship had gotten better with Vince McMahon over the years, since it was reported that he and Hart were seen eating at a restaurant in Calgary.
When asked about the date he said that Vince had offered to have a match with him at Wrestlemania 22 and had politely declined. His last appearance in WWE was a taped interview he had discussing the Vince McMahon Appreciation Night. It is noted that Kurt Angle could be returning to WWE later this year, but I don't want to start trying to predict the exact date like a physic or something like some writers on B/R do (ex. Christian Cage).
Bret Hart has said on his blog that if his condition gets to the point that he could do match and not take that many blows he would possibly consider a return, but it would have to be at Wrestlemania. But he has not wrestled in an official match since 200.
Who knows? It's not likely, but it's not impossible. Hart vs. Angle. Sounds like a super hero battle. Well if we know these two legends, that's exactly what it would be like. Be good fam.
