Dre Kirkpatrick, five star corner back by Rivals.com, committed to the University of Alabama on National Signing Day(NSD). Kirkpatrick is highly touted and recognized as the number one  corner back in the nation. Dre chose to stay close to home by choosing the Crimson Tide.

On ESPNU's signing day special former Auburn University head coach Tommy Tuberville said, "Dre's not your average defensive back. He's got long arms and a tall body and is tremendously athletic." Kirkpatrick fits the mold of Nick Saban's defensive back recruits at LSU being 6 foot plus.

Dre is 6'2",weight 180 lbs., and boasts a 4.5 second 40 yd dash. Many analyst claim Dre is ready for the collegiate level. With quick hips and fast feet as well as being an athletic specimen, Dre's impact can be felt immediately by the Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide finished its class today with four 5 star athletes with Kirkpatrick being a highlight. In his first season, Dre is projected to play corner. Dre being tall could project as a safety in the future, but as of now he'll enter the Alabama situation at corner due to the lack of depth. He will join Javier Arenas and Marquis Johnson in the Alabama defensive backfield.

Dre made his commitment to the Tide at his high school on February 4, NSD, and did so with a certain flavor. He picked up the University of Texas hat and said he liked Texas but didn't like the hat. He then grabbed a fitted black and red Alabama hat and said he needed more "swagger" and announced he's rolling with the Tide. Here's to Dre adding his swagger to Tuscaloosa and a sucessful career with the University of Alabama.
