Alexander Ovechkin's Quest for Goal No. 200
Alexander Ovechkin has 199 career goals in the NHL, and could have gotten No. 200 last night in New Jersey. He settled for a pair of assists.
My guess—he was waiting to excite the nation's capital with the accomplishment.
Tomorrow night, I will be sitting in my club seats with the expectation of seeing him reach the milestone. Last year's MVP is on a tear—in Washington's matinee games last weekend, Ovie scored two in the 4-2 victory over the Red Wings. He also scored a hat trick in Sunday's 7-4 win over Ottawa.
It will be a student rush tomorrow night—expect a great turnout. They will come in hopes of seeing No. 8 score a goal, two, or three. One goal is great, but so is three or four. Remember Jan. 31, 2008 vs. the Montreal Canadiens?
He is certainly back to MVP form—don't be surprised if he garners several awards at the end of the season.
Let's go Caps!
