SEC Hoops: Mitch Picks LSU at Georgia

Mitch Wilson@sportschatplaceSenior Writer IFebruary 4, 2009

LSU (17-4) at Georgia (9-12)

The Line: Georgia +7

Time: 7:30 PM EST

This game is a story of two teams playing at two totally different levels. LSU comes in as winners of five of their last six, while the Georgia Bulldogs have dropped their last eight games in a row. LSU has only lost one conference game, going 5-1 thus far, while Georgia is winless in SEC play sitting at 0-6.

LSU is all alone in first place in the SEC West, while Georgia is the cellar dweller in the SEC East. The Tigers appear to be tournament bound and should be an interesting team to watch, as they are the type of team who could easily go on a run; Georgia looks to rebuild and hope to maybe walk away with a few wins to build on for next year.

LSU has covered the last four times these teams have met. LSU has also covered in five of their last six trips to Athens, and the road team has covered in eight of the last 11 in this series. LSU is 7-6 against the spread this year, while Georgia comes in at 5-8-2 against the number.

I think LSU has no problem continuing their march into postseason, while Georgia gets a game further from their first conference win.

Mitch's Pick: LSU -7
