The 2012 Preakness Stakes was an absolutely epic race, with I’ll Have Another pulling off a storybook ending by surpassing Bodemeister—once again—for his second of three needed for a Triple Crown win.

Creative Cause’s impressive third-place finish has gotten lost in the commotion and hype surrounding I’ll Have Another’s victory, but it might come back to haunt the first potential Triple Crown winner in 38 years.

The three-year-old colt has been steadily improving and finished a respectable fifth place during the Kentucky Derby in a field of 20 horses. He built upon that at Pimlico with his show finish and is looking to finally capture a Triple Crown race by winning the 2012 Belmont Stakes.

Creative Cause will be flying under the radar at Belmont Park, as all eyes will be on I’ll Have Another and his quest for the Crown. Many are forgetting that CC was the one who pushed Bodemeister for the entire run at Pimlico and fell back to third late in the race.

Because of this, there's almost no pressure on a third-place horse that showed the speed to compete, since all of the expectations fall squarely on I’ll Have Another’s shoulders.

If Creative Cause can continue to run at a great pace and improve his distance just a bit for the 1.5 mile race in New York, there's no doubting he can get over the hump and actually finish in first.

It's no fluke a horse has run so well against such fierce competition and been consistently near the top. Creative Cause is a great competitor and will be able to steal the show from I’ll Have Another.
