The Hunger Games frenzy swept the nation in 2012. It was one of the bestselling novels in the nation, with 37 million copies sold, and the movie had the fourth-largest opening weekend in box office history, raking in a gross amount of $152.2 million.
Now, you might think, what do Hunger Games and LeBron James have in common? Well, apparently LeBron James is now a part of the Hunger Games bandwagon. The Heat star was recently caught reading the teen novel in preparation for Game 4 against the Pacers in Indianapolis.
The novel is said to be a great read, and we wouldn’t be surprised if we caught James reading the second and third installment of the popular trilogy frenzy. The book must have been some kind of inspiration, though, because James ended up with 40 points, 18 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and two blocks. And the Miami Heat went on to beat the Pacers 101-93, tying the playoff series 2-2. Game 5 will take place on Tuesday May 22nd.
Should we thank Katniss for the inspiration? Let’s see if James can keep up a winning streak while posting career-high game-winning points and helping the Heat bring home the championship trophy in the process. If he keeps playing like this until the end of the playoffs and the finals, who knows, he might have a better chance at winning the famous MVP ring.
