In all likelihood, no.
Boxer "Sugar" Shane Mosley is a shining star. His face is all over boxing, sports, and international news magazines. When people discuss local sports events, his name always has a spot in any conversation.
He is the man to challenge right now.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the ultimate master. Everyone knows of him, but people have not seen him much. He is the hidden treasure which shines brightly once in a while and then goes back into the cave. When Mayweather comes out to fight, he is always in shape, focused, ready, and ultimately, sarcastic.
Both fighters are experienced and fight like pros. They have the hearts of true warriors. Speed and precision is their game.
This fight is meant to happen. Everyone wants to see it, everyone would pay to see it, and absolutely everyone wants to know the result.
"Sugar" Shane is a superb fighter and has my complete respect, but I think that Mayweather is poison for him.
I predicted Mosley to beat Antonio Margarito because Margarito had nothing but force to offer him. Margarito can come forward punching, but that is about it. Give him angles and jabs and he is in deep trouble.
Mayweather can weather. It even rhymes. He can adapt, learn, and counter any offense. He is fast on his feet, lets his hands go, and moves around the ring like he is at home.
However, I do not give Mosley even a slight chance to beat Mayweather.
I wish someone would beat him already, but it is not that easy. If this fight were to happen, I see Mayweather taking the UD for at least 10 of the 12 rounds. Mayweather would always have a jab in Mosley’s face before Mosley could throw one of his own.
If this fight opens up as a possibility and Mayweather decides against it, not only will I question him as a boxer, but I will wonder if his cognitive thinking is in order.
It is, by far, the best fight Mayweather can wish for. He should be thanking god that Mosley won his last fight because that way, if Mayweather wins, no one will try to take anything away from his victory.
People will say that he defeated one of the best fighters of our time while he was still in pretty good shape.
Floyd, you better not pass on this opportunity.
