The overwhelming favorite in the Preakness Stakes at the moment is Bodemeister at 8-5, and he does look great in that 7 position, but the odds are so high that it's hardly even worth putting money on. I'd much rather take a flier on these three horses:
Went the Day Well finished just out of the money in the Kentucky Derby, but I like him a lot more in this smaller field. At 6-1, he's giving you pretty decent odds for a horse that had such a good showing at Churchill Downs.
Teeth of the Dog at 15-1 is especially intriguing for me. He hasn't run in many races, but he's never finished worse than third in the ones he HAS ran in. Could be an interesting dark horse.
If you're looking for a long shot, let me direct your attention to Tiger Walk. If you're a college football fan, he's named after Auburn's pregame walk and has come through on long odds before, winning the Breeder's Cup two years ago at 46-1. He hasn't done a lot lately, but there's definitely potential. At least enough to put a five spot on.
