Welcome to BR5, your daily source for sports and pop culture news.

Forbes.com has compiled a list of the 10 highest-paid head coaches in sports and New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick tops the list. Coach Belichick has come a long way from his first paying job in the league as an assistant coach with the then Baltimore Colts. That gig reportedly earned him less than $50 a week.

Now the HC of the New England Patriots reportedly makes $7.5 million a year.  His fellow Beantown coach, Glenn “Doc” Rivers tied for second-highest paid coach on the list at $7 million a year with several other coaches. The lesson here, folks, is if you want to make a lot of money, coach in the NFL, as eight of these 10 prove.

Belichick certainly earned that salary last season with a 13-3 regular season record, an AFC East title and a trip to Indianapolis for the Super Bowl.
