Stephen Strasburg had one of his worst outings ever against the Padres, allowing four runs and seven hits in four innings. His family jewels had an even worse day. In either a well-placed prank or a horrible mistake, Strasburg apparently got some "Hot Stuff" penetrating ointment in his pants, making the abysmal four innings even more uncomfortable.
“It was on his shoulder and evidently—I don’t know how it got to where it got, but it was uncomfortable, to say the least,” says manager Davey Johnson during a postgame presser. It's a mystery what exactly happened. There's no doubt that the "Hot Stuff" nickname will stick.
Strasburg holds a 3-1 record among eight starts this season with a 2.25 ERA. The Washington Nationals are currently a half game out of first place in the NL East and 22-14 after a hot start.
