Dani Alves will miss the Copa Del Rey final between FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao next week after fracturing his clavicle (or collarbone) during a training session, according to the club's official website.

Alves is expected to undergo surgery in Barcelona tonight.

The news could not come at a worse time for outgoing Barca manager Pep Guardiola. Carles Puyol is another player who is also resting following to a lesion in the knee.

The possibility exists, according to EFE (via ABC), that Alves may be replaced by Martin Montoya.

The injury is a setback for Barca. However, it is not expected to affect the result of the Copa Del Rey final.

A fractured clavicle requires rest and rehabilitation. The process depends on the patient and each case is different.

It remains to be seen what will transpire between FC Barcelona and Athletic Bilbao. In the meantime, Dani Alves deserves our support as he undergoes a difficult recovery.
