The International Federation of Football History and Statistics have released the names of the football clubs who have become the best in the world over the last 18 years.
You will be able to find out who have been the best football teams from 10 down to one, whether they are from Spain, Italy, Argentina, England or even Germany.
In the list there are three English teams (Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal). There are two Spanish teams (Real Madrid and Barcelona). There are three Italian teams (AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus). There is one team from Argentina (River Plate). Finally, there is one team from Germany (Bayern Munich).
But what order do they all come in?
English football club Chelsea have came tenth in the list.
In the past 18 years, Chelsea have won the Premier League twice (2004-05, 2005-2006). They have won the FA Cup twice (2000, 2007).
Chelsea have won the League Cup three times (1998, 2005, 2007) and the Community Shield twice (2000, 2005).
In Europe, Chelsea have won the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1998 and the European Super Cup in 1998.
The Argentine team River Plate have come ninth in the list.
Since 1991, Club Atletico River Plate have won- Torneo Apertura six times (1991, 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 1999) and the Torneo Clausura six times(1997, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008).
River Plate have won the Copa Libertadores once (1996) and the Supercopa (Champions of America's Cup) once which was in 1997.
Another English side, Arsenal have come eighth in the list.
Arsenal have won four Premier League titles since 1991 (1990–91, 1997–98, 2001–02, 2003–04) along with five FA Cup's (1992–93, 1997–98, 2001–02, 2002–03, 2004–05).
Arsenal have also won one league cup which was in 1992-93, they have also won five Charity Shields (1991 (shared), 1998, 1999, 2002, 2004).
In Europe, Arsenal have won the European Cup Winners' Cup in 1993–94.
Number seven is a German team- Bayern Munich.
Since 1991 Bayern have been German Champion’s eight times (, 1993–94, 1996–97, 1998–99, 1999–2000, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2004–05, 2005–06) and the German Cup five times (2000,2003, 2005, 2006, 2008).
Bayern have won the League Cup six times (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2007).
In Europe they have won the Intercontinental Cup once (2001), the UEFA Champion’s League once (2001) and the UEFA Cup once (1996)
Other Cups which Bayern Munich have won are the Fuji-Cup (twice- 1994 and 1995), and the Trofeo Santiago Bernabéu once (2002).
Internazionale Milano (Inter Milan) are at number six.
Inter Milan have won these titles since 1991. Inter have won Serie A three times (2005-06, 2006-07, 2007-08), the Coppa Italia twice (2004-2005 and 2005-06).
Inter Milan have won the Supercoppa Italiana three times (2005, 2006, 2007).
Internationally, Inter Milan have won the UEFA Cup three times (1990-01, 1993-94, 1997-98).
Inter Milan have also won the Birra Moretti Cup three times (2001,2002, 2007) and the Trofeo Time five times (2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007) and the Pirelli Cup once (2001).
At number five we have Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have won many titles since 1991. They have won La Liga six times (1994–95, 1996–97, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2006–07, 2007–08) and the Capa del Rey once (1992–93).
Real Madrid have won the Supercopa de España six times (1990, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2003, 2008).
Internationally Madrid have won the UEFA Champion’s League three times (1997–98, 1999–2000, 2001–02), the Intercontinental Cup twice (1998, 2002).
Madrid have also won the UEFA Super Cup once, that was in 2002.
At Number four, we have AC Milan.
Since 1991, AC Milan have won Serie A six times (1991–92; 1992–93; 1993–94; 1995–96; 1998–99; 2003–04), the Coppa Italia once (2002-03) and the Supercoppa Italiana four times (1992, 1993, 1994, 2004).
Internationally, AC Milan have won the UEFA Champion’s League three times (1993–94; 2002–03; 2006–07), the UEFA Super Cup four times (1990; 1994; 2003; 2007) and the FIFA Club World Cup once (2007).
The third best team over the last eighteen years has been Juventus.
Juventus have won the Serie A title five times (1994–95; 1996–97; 1997–98; 2001–02; 2002–03), they also won Serie B title once (2006-07).
Juventus have won the Supercoppa Italiana four times (1995; 1997; 2002; 2003).
Internationally Juventus hae won the UEFA Champion’s League once (1995-96), the UEFA Cup once (1992-93). They have also won the UEFA Intertoto Cup once (1999) and the European Super Cup once (1996).
Finally, Juventus have won the Intercontinental Cup (1996).
The second best team over the last eighteen years has been current English, European and World Champion's- Manchester United.
During the last 18 years, Manchester United have won the Premier League 10 times (1992–93, 1993–94, 1995–96, 1996–97, 1998–99, 1999–2000, 2000–01, 2002–03, 2006–07, 2007–08), the FA Cup four times (1994, 1996, 1999, 2004), the League Cup twice (1992,2006) and the Community Shield seven times (1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2008).
In Europe, Manchester United have won the UEFA Champion’s League twice (1999, 2008), UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup once (1991) and the UEFA Super Cup once (1991).
United have also won the Intercontinental Cup once (1999) and the FIFA Club World Cup once (2008).
The best football team in the world over the last eighteen years has been Barcelona.
Barcelona have won La Liga eight times (1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2005, 2006), the Copa del Rey twice (1997, 1998), the Supercopa de Espana six times (1991, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2005, 2006).
Internationally, Barcelona have won the UEFA Champion’s League twice (1992, 2006). They have also won the UEFA Cup Winners Cup once (1997), the European Super Cup twice (1992, 1997).
No disrespect to the other teams, but you can be forgiven for thinking that Italy rigged this draw. The easiest group in the draw by far- Italy and Paraguay to go through, and Slovakia and especially New Zealand to get absolutely thrashed...
This is the last of my group analysis and this group sees the no 1 ranked Spain go up against the plucky Swiss, ever improving Chile, and Central American representatives Honduras...
This is probably the toughest group in the tournament along with group D. Ivory Coast are again in the 'Group of Death', and will fight it out against Portugal for second spot behind Brazil...
