MMA, Chuck Liddell, UFC, Houston Alexander

The powerful punch of the Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell may meet the unstopable hands of Houston "The Nebraskin Assassin" Alexander in London.  At least, that is the word on the MMA street.

Liddell has proven that he has a ground game if the fight hits the floor.  Alexander has not been given the chance to display more than his ability to ground and pound.

During his UFC career Alexander has either TKO'd his opponent or has been TKO'd.  Liddell has more experience and has found himself in all positions including the losing end of a fight.

If a fighter is picked on experience Liddell will be favored.  However, both fighters look to stand and hit.  If this fight does take place it will probably be one of the most interesting fights the UFC has seen.

The prediction: Alexander comes back from his loss with a vengeance and beats Liddell by TKO round two.

  1. wow, pretty bold prediction, im not sure what I think of this fight. I probably would have agreed with you before Alexanders last loss against Thiago Silva. I don't see Silva's hands being as good as Liddell's so im not sure how Alexander would deal with it. However Jardine beat Liddell and Alexander beat Jardine so anything is possible. A very interesting fight for sure. I don't think it would go down at all and would just end up being a brawl.

    nice article!

    1. HAHA yeah my prediction should hae probably said wishful thinking. I don't disagree with what you said. But if Bj Penn or Alexander are fighting I have to pull or them. Liddell is awesome. I like him and respect him. That fight could go either way.

  2. What about Alexander's upcoming fight with James Irvin on Apr 2nd? Does he get the Liddel fight regardless of the outcome with Irvin. What about injuries?

  3. your right, it can't be Alexander, but who then?? This is a pretty bad predicament for the UFC.

  4. It's possible for Alexander to fight Liddell, but it probably will hinge on how he does against James Irvin... should he win and come out with no injuries... that would give him 2 months to train... and I highly doubt Alexander would turn down the opportunity.

  5. Like you, I would love to see Houston win this fight, and time and time again --in MMA anything can happen. Here's hoping!

  6. Houston is undersized and overmatched in this fight if it were to go down, I can't see Liddell losing this fight were it to happen.

He is supposed to be fighting Irvin so dunno how likely this is

  7. that is a crazy prediction the iceman is the toughest fight houston would ever see in the octagon no chance for houston

  8. houston to KO in round two.. are you fuckin kidding me. Chuck's gunna knock his block off. the guy got pumped by silva for fuck sakes.. as far as I'm concerned Chuck Liddell is still in the top 3 light heavy weights in the world. He had a loss to Rampage which was a given.. and Jardine i donno what happened there.. but he probably slammed a keg of beer for his traingin.. if they had a rematch Chuck would rip his head off.

  9. this jen chick is hot! she throws out some crazy ideas, like most hot chicks. i get that gianna michaels feel from her. you guys no what i mean.

    1. really george. really

  10. The winner of the Liddell fight will likely move on to face the Rampage/Griffin winner. Therefore, Liddell's opponent needs to be worthy and Houston Alexander is deep in line especially coming off a loss in his last fight to Thiago Silva. Alexander shouldn't even be in the discussion.

Lyoto Machida, if he beats Tito Ortiz at UFC 84, in my opinion should be at the front of the line. If he wins he will be 13-0 with victories over BJ Penn, Stephan Bonnar, Sokoudjou, Rich Franklin, and Ortiz.

Rashad Evans should be in the discussion as well. I would even give the Jardine/W Silva winner a rematch with Liddell before I would even consider Alexander.

  11. I guess i was in the ballpark ... it was just confirmed liddell will be fighting rashad evans at UFC 85.

    1. Liddell will hand Evans his first loss, too. That twitchy hand thing that evans does is going to be met with an overhand right.
