NFL, NFC North, Green Bay Packers, Brett Favre
Brett Favre retires. What else is there to say?

Just let it sink in.

That's right. One of the NFL's classiest guys has thrown in the towel. Through the good and bad, thick and thin, he's given his life to the Green Bay Packers and the Frozen Tundra of Wisconsin.

I know he's blown out his fair share of birthday candles, and he may not be the Brett Favre of the past, but I think this was the worst time he could have possibly retired.

He has a great supporting cast, and he was only one game away from making it to the Big Game this year.

Who knows how far he could have made it next year?

The NFL needs guys like Brett Favre. They need guys who can competitively play into their 40's. And more than anything, pro sports needs guys who do it the right way.

There are a lot of athletes who are going to be the face of sports for years to come. I just hope all of them can follow in the footsteps of model athletes like Favre and stay clean while still portraying what sports in this nation represent.

So maybe Favre really is done with football.

Maybe not.

Either way, his legacy and poise will leave an everlasting affect on the sport.

Thanks, Brett.
