A fantastic spell of bowling from Amer Jamil gave Abergele their first win of the season against Brymbo.
Gele batted first after winning the toss on a very hard track. Brymbo bowled well and very tight, restricting Gele to 128 as they were all out after 43.1 overs.
Skipper Ed Rooney batted well as he scrapped out a well constructed 43. Chairman Martyn Hedge timed his inning perfectly to make 19 before he was out-caught and bowled.
That was a common theme for Abergele as both teams seemed to struggle with the pitch. Ben Garnett (11), Hedge and Owen Lynam, who was the last man out for six, were all caught and bowled.
Jamil hit the only six of the inning as Andrew Patterson pitched the ball short, Jamil hammered the ball up the hill and over the ropes. He made 13.
For Brymbo the wickets were scattered around. Patterson took 3 for 25, Andrew Meredith (2 for 13), Matthew Scott (2 for 25), and Michael Edge (2 for 27) all supported Patterson well.
Gele started well, restricting Brymbo to 32-3, Lynam with one and Rana Das with two, put Gele on the front foot.
Phil Wilkinson batted well for Brymbo, he smashed David Moulson for 12 off one over, before he was out-caught well by Hedge as he fell off the bowling of Jamil.
Jamil was the star of the show taking 6 for 14 off his 12 overs and was well supported by Moulson who picked up 1-16 in his 12 overs.
Extremely tight bowling turned the game Gele's way as they took it from 54 for 3 too 73 all out.
An excellent bowling performance should hopefully start Gele off for the season as it took eight games for them to get a win last season, its only took them three this term.
