Since Randy Orton splashed onto the WWE scene in 2002, he has provided WWE audiences with many moments they will never forget.
Often a subject of controversy both in and out of the ring, Orton has managed to leave his mark on the wrestling industry, often in extreme ways that have become burned into our memory banks.
In this article, I will count down the Top 15 "Oh My God" most shocking moments in the career of Randy Orton. The following moments were either extreme or shocking in their own different ways.
15. Randy Orton slaps The Undertaker
When Randy Orton was looking to make a name for himself, he dared to go where no one else had. He challenged The Undertaker to a match at Wrestlemania and made his point very clear when he slapped The Undertaker right in the face.
14. Spitting In The Face of Legends
The world could not believe it when Randy Orton spit in the face of Mick Foley. They were just as awestruck when he spit in the face of Harley Race.
When Triple H demanded that Orton relinquish the World Heavyweight Championship, The Game got a loogie in response.
13. Setting The Undertaker On Fire
After Randy and his father, "Cowboy" Bob Orton, defeated The Undertaker in a two-on-one handicap casket match, Randy set the casket on fire to further lay his mark to being a true "Legend Killer."
12. A Rated RKO Conchairto
When Ric Flair become the victim of Randy Orton and Edge's desire to dominate Raw, his head was "crushed like a grape" when Randy Orton finished the beat down with an vile conchairto.
11. The "Lady Killer"?
When Randy Orton turned from babyface to heel, he left his mark with a sudden and unexpected RKO to his then-girlfriend Stacy Keibler. Despicable yes, but not half as bad as when he RKO'd the Fabulous Moolah in her hometown on her birthday.
10. Randy Orton gets Hardcore
In the match that helped define Orton's career, he defeated the "Hardcore Legend" Mick Foley in a Hardcore match to retain his Intercontinental championship.
Even though victorious, the match was highlighted when Randy Orton's body was thrown upon a mat full of thumb tacks. As the tacks stuck into his body, Orton would never again be called a "little wimp."
9. The Undertaker's Last Ride
With the body of The Undertaker on the back of the late Eddie Guerrero's lowrider, Randy Orton drove him through the Smackdown stage in another attempt to kill a legend.
8. Orton Breaks His Collarbone
In a Last Man Standing match with Triple H for the WWE title, Randy Orton legitimately broke his collarbone when he was thrown over the top rope and landed on the floor to create a clean break. Don't ask me how, but Orton managed to complete the match.
7. Youngest Champion in WWE History
Randy Orton came into Summerslam 2004 as a big-time heel facing Chris Benoit. Benoit had been the champion since Wrestlemania and managed to defeat Shawn Michaels and Triple H on multiple occasions along the way.
Benoit couldn't handle the Legend Killer, however, as an RKO out of nowhere ended Benoit's one and only Raw World title reign, and Orton became the youngest heavyweight champion in WWE history.
6. Insulting The Legacy of Eddie Guerrero
Randy Orton coming out in Eddie's lowrider? Reading offensive excerpts from Eddie's biography? Yes, Orton went that low and sunk further when he told Rey Mysterio that Eddie Guerrero was in hell and not in heaven. Another despicable act that only a man like Orton at the time would be low enough to perform.
5. Winning the WWE Championship Twice in the Same Night
When John Cena had to vacate his WWE championship, Orton was awarded the title by Vince McMahon but lost it to Triple H in his first title defense.
In the same night, Orton cashed in his rematch clause and defeated Triple H in a Last Man Standing match to become the only man to win the title twice on the same night.
4. Retaining the WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 24
Competing in a Triple Threat match with John Cena and Triple H, Orton was a huge underdog, as everyone expected to see either Triple H or Cena to walk away as champion.
Orton shocked the world by punting Triple H in the head and pinning Cena to retain the title.
3. Injuring John Cena
After Cena tore his pectoral muscle in a match with Mr. Kennedy, Orton viciously attacked Cena after the match. He RKO'd him twice and put Cena on the shelf for months, forcing him to vacate the title that Orton himself would later win.
2. Punting John Cena's Father in the Head
After Orton lost his title match against John Cena at Summerslam 2007, Vince McMahon demanded for Orton to prove that he deserved another shot. Orton made an impact in the most unexpected way.
Instead of punting John Cena in the head, he pulled his father over the barrier and punted him in the head before simply walking away.
1. Taking out Vince McMahon
When Vince McMahon threatened to fire Randy Orton, Randy slapped him in the face and punted the life out of him before he had the chance. Orton's vicious attack caused a real-life concussion and split McMahon's face open.
Those are my personal Top 15 most shocking moments in Randy Orton's career. Although any one of those would have sufficed for a career's worth of shock, Randy Orton sets himself apart due to his consistent ability to do things that fans will never forget.
