You can now add a Pharoh to the commitment list for the Gamecocks in 2013.
Pharoh Cooper, a 3-star recruit from Havelock, North Carolina, committed Thursday evening to the Gamecocks, per 247sports.com.
This was a commitment that was expected for the Gamecocks in the coming days, but Cooper went ahead and added the trifecta to USC's steady growing commitment list. Cooper joins defensive ends David Johnson and Devin Washington as the three commitments on the day.
The 5'11" 181-pound athlete has the ability to play both wide receiver and defensive back at the next level, but South Carolina envisions him at either cornerback or safety once he gets to campus. He's currently ranked the 116th wide receiver in the country on 247sports.com and 34th overall in the state of North Carolina.
You will notice on his highlight video that he has an excellent burst of speed and great hands which enable him to come down with the ball on offense or defense. He's also got the knack for big-play potential and that's exactly what you hope to get out of someone with his versatility.
Cooper is the 12th commitment for the Gamecocks so far this recruiting cycle; he picked South Carolina over East Carolina and N.C. State.
