Dave's College Basketball Picks, Jan. 31: Drake at Wichita State

Drake (14-8, 5-5) at Wichita State (9-12, 3-7)

Line: Wichita State -2

At 5-5 in conference, there is no more room for error for Drake. A 62-65 loss Thursday to Evansville made it four defeats in their last five games. The Bulldogs hit only five of 23 shots from three point land to blow an eight point halftime lead. Drake does however have fond memories of their 78-54 whipping of the Shockers on Jan 3rd, which was their largest margin of victory so far in conference play.

We correctly called the Shockers road lost to Bradley on Wednesday even though Wichita State had won its prior three games against good teams. The lids were on the rims for Wichita State as they shot just 34.7 percent including 15.4 percent from behind the arch against the Braves.

Drake is 9-8 ATS including 5-3 on the road
Wichita State is 7-9 ATS including 2-4 at home

Drake is a little hard to figure out as they are able to beat good teams on the road, but struggle against poor teams. I’d put Wichita State on the poor side in that discussion. However, the Shockers have shown a recent ability to play well on the home floor and I think they get the job done here.

Dave’s Pick: Wichita State -2
